After seeing the Cultural Infusion Atlas platform at an event, I could instantly see how we could gain the data I knew we were missing.

Overview

Allpress Espresso started as a coffee cart in New Zealand and now supplies coffee to over 2000 cafes worldwide. In 2021, we became part of the Asahi Beverages Group. At Allpress, we are committed to creating an amazing place to work for all of our people.

The challenge

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) is a key to making Allpress an amazing place to work. For us this about our people feeling safe (psychologically and physically), engaged and able to bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. At Allpress, we have always been committed to DEI, but we didn’t have the data to understand exactly what our diversity make up was.

When we explored our options, we quickly realised how complex this was particularly given the number of countries we operate in. Without this data, we lacked the ability to understand and prioritise what matters to our people, to inform our DEI strategy.

Approach

We needed to independently capture the diversity profile of the Allpress team across Australia, NZ, Japan, Singapore and the UK to understand the diversity of each region and of our global business. The platform had to comply with privacy and security standards, be anonymous and inclusive for all of our people globally.

Along with capturing key demographic data, our Diversity Atlas survey was configured to include specific sentiment queries, as well as a “free text” option to capture suggestions. This was important to understand our inclusivity and what really matters to our people. Our global P&C team members and senior leaders acted as ‘influencers’ promoting the Diversity Atlas survey and encouraging participation.

Impact

The Atlas survey has provided us with a very rich data set, which will inform: The diversity of our people and how representative we are of the communities that we operate in How inclusive we are and what we could to do improve Development of our DEI Strategy.

While we have always been committed to DEI, the survey insights will be invaluable for ensuring our DEI strategy meets the needs of our people at Allpress. We are supplementing the survey with listening sessions to really understand the lived experience of our people. The power of the survey data is that it will enable us to develop a global DEI strategy but also flexible enough to enable us to respond to the unique cultural profile of each region. The survey experience was received positively around the world, it has helped to demonstrate our commitment to DEI and has given a voice to all of our people at Allpress.
